TORONTO, SEPTEMBER 18, 2009 — The Certified General Accountants of Ontario will launch a high school marketing campaign at this year’s Ontario Universities Fair (OUF) held in Toronto, Friday, September 25, 2009 to Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The campaign encourages high school students to think about their futures in a whole new way and to discover what certified general accountants (CGAs) really do in contrast to the ‘chained to the desk’ stereotype many students have. The creative approach uses collage to demonstrate that the CGA designation leads to rewarding careers, well into an ever-changing future.
The campaign elements include student and teacher resources, brochures, posters, information books, an informative and fun microsite designed specifically for students, plus two online contests. Instant Win PINs will be available at the Fair and online, upon request. Contest details are available on site and at seeyourway.org. Students will have a chance to win a grand prize of $1,000 as well as secondary prizes of Best Buy gift cards and more.
The new seeyourway.org microsite is intended solely for the secondary school market, featuring testimonials from CGAs, games and prizes for the Internet generation — and information (of course) about a career as a certified general accountant. Upon ‘opting-in’, students will be welcomed into the community. Throughout the contest period they will receive further communications/teasers driving them back to the microsite and encouraging participation in the Scavenger Hunt contest.
CGA Ontario is an OUF platinum sponsor and will be located at booth number 11. The Association will host the CGA TV Lounge in Rooms 802A and 802B within the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The lounge will welcome teachers, students and parents to come in and watch CGA TV (video clips of CGAs in high profile positions from well known organizations speaking about the CGA designation). Presentations of the video will take place every half an hour on the hour CGAs are accounting and finance professionals with a difference. Diverse and highly skilled, they have achieved a respected designation through rigorous academic training and intense real-world experience. They’re trained to look beyond the numbers, drawing on their broad learning and individual strengths to facilitate problem solving and provide leadership across industries and within changing business realities. The CGA designation tells an employer that a prospect is well equipped to add value to the organization no matter what the future brings.
CGA Ontario is a self-governing body that grants the exclusive rights to the CGA designation, and controls the professional standards, conduct and discipline of its members and students in the province of Ontario. Certified general accountants (CGAs) are committed to meeting the needs of their businesses and organizations with strategic insight, leadership and demonstrated abilities. In Ontario, there are more than 19,000 CGAs and approximately 9,000 students working towards their designation.
