TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2011 — The Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA Ontario) recognizes and applauds the hard work and dedication that entrepreneurs put into their businesses, driving economic progress and success across the province. Building and managing a small business is no small feat, although tremendously rewarding, success demands skilled entrepreneurs who rise to the challenge.
“The small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector currently employs 50 per cent of Ontario’s workforce – this business community will continue to be the backbone to our economy,” said Doug Brooks, FCGA, CEO, CGA Ontario.”And CGA Ontario is committed to making the province of Ontario an even better place to do business.”
Recently CGA Ontario announced a $2 million gift to the Schulich School of Business at York University supporting the creation of a new endowed academic chair focusing on global competitiveness for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
“We’re very excited to be working with Schulich in this joint project,” said Doug Brooks, FCGA. “A significant percentage of CGAs in Ontario serve SMEs. Research by the CGA Ontario Chair in Global Competitiveness for SMEs will play an important role in assisting SMEs to become more competitive outside their domestic markets”.
CGA Ontario offers a collection of information booklets and resources to support business ranging from:
