Students who have completed courses at a university, college or professional association, whose content and standards are deemed equivalent to courses in the CGA program, may be eligible for transfer credits. Refer to Ontario post-secondary College or University transfer credit policies.
To request transfer credits, complete and forward the following items to CGA Ontario’s office:
The post-secondary institution or professional association must send all official sealed transcripts and letters of good standing directly or students may hand deliver or mail unopened official documents to the CGA Ontario office. This policy covers both Canadian and International documents.
If transcripts are not in English, we require an official notarized translation in English and the official non-translated transcript. Send both directly to CGA Ontario. All official documents are the property of CGA Ontario and are not released to third parties.
In addition, potential students who have completed courses at educational institutions and professional associations outside Canada may be asked to provide a course syllabus.
CGA Ontario may deny transfer credits for courses that are deemed to be outdated. In addition, we reserve the right to require special studies for students who are granted transfer credits.
Enrolling in a course for which you have received a transfer credit voids that transfer credit.
We keep transfer credit evaluation reports on file for two years. If a student does not enrol before then, transfer credits must be re-evaluated.
For information on course transfer credits, see the application for transfer credits.
The manager of admissions registration may permit a once-only challenge exam for advanced level equivalent courses if there is doubt that a transfer credit is justified. Challenge exams are written within one year of enrolment in the program. A student who is unsuccessful in a challenge exam must enrol in the CGA course. The fee for a challenge exam includes the lesson notes for the course.
Students may purchase other applicable course material from CGA Ontario. Enrolling in a course for which a student previously received the challenge exam privilege voids that privilege.
The number of academic years allowed in the program is determined during the first academic year of enrolment. The time limit is based on the number of transfer credits.

Students are allowed an additional two years to obtain a degree.
Regardless of which session the student is registered in initially, we count it as a full academic year for time-limit purposes.
