CGA Ontario strives to engage secondary students with the exciting field of accounting.
With such free resources as the latest edition of CGA Canada’s School Accounting Modules
(SAM), an animated Name Your Need
video, teaching aids and posters, and an exciting
Secondary School Speakers Program, your students will be exposed to opportunities
awaiting them in the future.
SAM consists of a series of four accounting simulations covering the Witness Fitness
Centre.These teaching aids are available free of charge to
Ontario
secondary school teachers. Intended for use in business studies classes, the modules
serve as practice sets to explore practical examples of accounting principles. Through
this hands-on approach, students become familiar with each step in the accounting
cycle; from cheques and receipts to various ledgers, journals, documents and statements.
The Name Your Need 9-minute video outlines the CGA program of studies and
profiles real-life CGAs in action. Name Your Need shows students
the opportunities available to those who pursue careers in the accounting and finance fields.
Teaching aids and posters, include Pick Six Accounting Quiz, “I need to go farther
in life”, and other useful tools.
The Secondary School Speakers Program is an exciting way to provide students with
a real case scenario. It increases student awareness of accounting careers and the
dynamic roles CGAs play in the business community.
Achieve Your Dreams by Setting Goals is a new teaching resource, created for Ontario
secondary schools by the Certified General Accountants of Ontario. This workbook
meets established curriculum in the current Career Studies course. For more information
