CPA Ontario announces “Get with the PROgram” finalists
TORONTO, March 21, 2016 – CPA Ontario is pleased to announce the six finalists of the “Get with the PROgram” Video Competition. Now all eyes turn to April 1 when voting ends and a young Spielberg or Bigelow is crowned winner of CPA Ontario’s video competition.
Ontario post-secondary and high school students were invited to create a video on the theme of “Why Chartered Professional Accountants are the PROs of the Business World” and the two winning entries will get $1,500 in addition to the obvious fame and glory.
The finalists are:
- What Makes a PRO. By Zoe Yang, Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute
- What Makes CPAs the PROs. By Mueed Fiaz, Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School
- When I Grow Up. By Ellen Coady, Havergal College
- Why CPAs are the Best. By Joyce Dao, Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute
- Who Are You? By Alexis Wei, Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School
- Are You Ready? By Bobbie Williams, Central Technical School
“Get with the PROgram is an opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge of the CPA designation and show off their video-making skills, while competing for cash prizes,” said Vicki Liederman, Director of Student Recruitment, with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.
“The level of creativity shown by the accounting profession’s future CPAs has been incredibly inspiring and their videos are so much fun to watch. You’ll be amazed when you see their mini-movies at http://www.gocpaontario.ca/contests/get-with-the-program.”
A big part of the contest is based on how well people promote their video. The more views, likes and positive ratings received on YouTube, the better, although negative ratings and comments will not be counted. People are invited to vote for their favourite video. Aside from $1,500 for the two winners, each of the other finalists will receive $300 or $200, depending on where they place.
The Get with the PROgram video competition — just one more reason why students across Ontario are pursuing the CPA designation.
