Small business is the bedrock of the Canadian economy, providing more than 50% of jobs. Most of the small businesses are serviced well by sole practitioners and small partnerships. Good governance requires council represents those that it serves. Currently the small practitioner is not well represented. I am running to bring better representation. I have 40 plus years of experience as a small practitioner, venture capitalist and CFO in industry. I have extensive governance experience at the chair level of both for and not for profit organizations. As the chair of a Catholic hospital I started a process to rationalize services with the non-denominational hospital in our community. That process continues today resulting in better health care. When the Green Energy Act of Ontario was introduced I convinced the Board and staff to stay with the basics. While others wasted millions on green investments we were able to reinvest in our infrastructure. My client load is reducing; I now have the time to serve my fellow CPAs.
